Veterans Day 2021

What a beautiful day to recognize ALL Veterans! So gratifying and uplifting. Since we didn't ask permission to post photos on social media from all those participating - we are only posting the ones we know won't mind. The rain held off and there was a great crowd of about 75 people in attendance - veterans and members of their families and members of the community. Veterans who signed up prior to the event received gold embossed Certificates of Appreciation and their names were listed in the printed program. The program focused solely on recognition of veterans and everyone present seemed to appreciate that. Afterward, refreshments were served and good conversation was had! WE LOVE VETERANS

Lots of 'hands on deck' to make this event happen! Many thanks to members of the Legacy Club for setting up and taking down the chairs, handing out programs, etc; Roy Goodson of Goodson Funeral Home for lending us chairs; our youngest - Karston and Finley Stierman for handing out flags and programs; the JSU ROTC Color Guard for presenting and retiring the colors; Jim Justice for leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance; Anne Kimbrough for lending her voice in a moving presentation of the National Anthem; Gary Gilbert's technical talents so the program would have 'sound'; CAPT Jim Williams, USN (Ret) for giving a 'History of Veterans Day' and presenting the certificates; Paula Hillan-McLaury for representing Veterans Upward Bound; Richard Smith for coming to the rescue when help is called for; Beverly

Williams for the certificates and programs; Carsie

Evans for having her fingerprints on every aspect

of the program; and lastly Sheila Gilbert - our

'ROCK!'
