A New Year brings new challenges.

Please join us for the JANUARY Calhoun County Democrat meeting!

WHAT: CalCoDem January meeting
WHEN: Thursday, January 19th, 6:30 pm
WHERE: CalCoDem HQ, 812 Noble Street, on the corner of Noble and Hwy 202
WHY? Because we are already into 2023 and need input and ideas from EVERYONE! (PLUS CalCoDems are some of the best cooks ever :)

Our meetings are at 6:30 pm, on the 3rd Thursday of the month, unless otherwise indicated. We will begin with a 'pot luck' dinner, followed by the business meeting. Bring your favorite dish to share with others if possible. Otherwise bring yourself and a guest - your presence matters most and we always seem to have enough food!

We will 'look back' at some of our accomplishments in 2022 and 'look forward' to plans for 2023. We'll talk briefly about the bipartisan Women's March CalCoDems are sponsoring on Sunday, 22 January. That 'would have been' the 50th Anniversary of Roe v Wade. CalCoDem's last march had very low attendance and we hope to garner more support on Sunday!

Please bring your ideas/suggestions as we discuss 'moving forward in 2023'. For example:

  • What can we do to gain younger members?

  • How can we increase membership among our African American friends and neighbors? Our goals are the same, what are we doing wrong?

  • CalCoDems is a home for everybody. How do we reach our Hispanic Community? Our LGBTQIA friends?

  • How can we increase donations?

    • We get ZERO funding from State or Federal.

    • What needs to be done to increase donations?

    • HQ is run pretty much like our homes. Donors pay for everything from staples, to toilet paper, to paper plates, to dish detergent, to phone, water, electricity and cable, grounds maintenance, property taxes and insurance on the building. To name a few :)

    • Volunteers who work at HQ are just that - volunteers. Nobody gets paid.

    • If you have a skill, such as electrician, painter, brick mason, etc - let us know :)

  • We will look at establishing a couple of committees, to help us move ahead in 2023.

So - please join us and bring your voice to the table! You matter.
